To: The Pennsylvania State House, The Pennsylvania State Senate, and Governor Tom Wolf

Governor Corbett, Is Nothing Sacred? Don't Frack Our State Forests!

We, the undersigned, are calling on Governor Corbett and the members of the PA legislature to protect our state forests from shale gas development. The Governor's proposal to exploit our public lands by opening them up to fracking as a one-time budget fix is short-sighted, to say the least. Drilling in our state forests will not just destroy some of our Commonwealth's most treasured natural resources; it will have detrimental effects far beyond the forests' boundaries, impacting our water, air, health, safety, and economy. Don't open our public lands to fracking.

Why is this important?

In his budget address, Governor Tom Corbett announced plans to open up Pennsylvania's state forests to fracking. It's a short-sighted attempt to balance the state budget. Our state forests are too precious to put in the hands of drillers. And, since pollution knows no boundaries, drilling's detrimental effects would extend far beyond our forests' borders, impacting our health, safety, and economy. Public opinion polls have shown that the majority of Pennsylvanians oppose fracking on public lands, but our Governor isn't listening, so we need to get louder. Tell the Governor and the legislature to protect our state forests from fracking!
