No more dirty oil on our city's railways!

Block trains transporting dangerous fossil fuels from Philadelphia's railways. Fracked gas, crude oil, tar sands, and other extreme energy fuels are dangerous to our city and even worse for our climate.

Why is this important?

I live one mile from the Schuylkill River (pronounced "SKOOL-kill")On January 20th, I learned that a train carrying crude oil had derailed on a bridge near my house and was hanging over the river precariously.

If that train had spilled, it would have been catastrophic for my neighborhood and my city. It could have caused a fireball like the kind that destroyed Lac-Megantic Quebec, causing 47 deaths.

Even if there is no disaster and the fuel is burned as intended, it will cause even worse damage to our climate over time. We need to leave it in the ground. Please stop allowing extreme energy fuels to be shipped on our city's rails.
