Governor Scott: banning the words "climate change" is not OK.
Banning the words "climate change" in the Florida state government is unacceptable. Florida is vulnerable to many of the impacts of climate change - such as extreme weather patterns and sea level rise. Florida's leaders should take every possible measure to stop global climate change in its tracks.
Why is this important?
The Florida Center for Investigative Reporting recently reported that employees and volunteers at the Florida Department of Environmental Protection have been directed not to use the words "climate change," "global warming," or “sea level rise.” This news has drawn public outrage across the country.
Instead of denying the urgency of climate change, Governor Scott should be leading the charge in renewable energy sources like solar. Please ask the Governor to acknowledge human-caused climate change and work to stop it!
