Ban For-Profit Private Prisons in Washington State
Prisons should be non profit organizations with a primary goal of rehabilitation through education,they should not profit from re offenders and high arrest rates.We ask that our state leaders put an end to this incentive to incarcerate more people and for longer periods of time in order to fill a quota.
Why is this important?
The United States has the highest documented incarceration rate of any nation.When prisoners(Known as Residents at the Tacoma Facility) are a source of revenue for private companies this rate is only going to increase.
Our tax dollars should not be wasted on this failed for profit prison(Detention Center).
