Petition Statement
We ask the San Miguel County, NM, Commissioners to ban the oil and gas industry from fracking in San Miguel County and destroying the water, land and air.

Petition Background

San Miguel County has less water for survival than nearly any place in the United States. Now Royal Dutch Shell and the gas and oil industry want to drill for natural gas here, involving hydraulic fracturing, aka fracking. Fracking uses millions of gallons of water per well and injects hundreds of toxic chemicals deep into the earth. One hundred percent of these wells eventually leak, polluting the earth forever.
