C Span Must Correct its Anti-Iran Bias

A review of C Span's programming over the past year shows that it has given over 90% of coverage identified with "Iran" to groups, individuals, or commentary that presents Iran in an untruthful or demonized light.

At the same time, C Span has consistently failed to give its audience basic information on the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty (NPT). C Span moderators do not appear to be aware of the content of the NPT.

It is urgent that C Span staff acquaint themselves with the NPT. They can do so by viewing, and also broadcasting, a Symposium held at Penn State University last February, hosted by the university's School of International Studies and available here: http://mediasite.dsl.psu.edu/Mediasite/Play/4fa17d9b059e47b3bbb751cbda5480cb1d

Why is this important?

The USA waged war on Iraq based on "mistakes," "bad information," or lies.
Media was complicit in spreading those lies.
Masses of people protested against the war against Iraq but their voices were ignored.
That must not happen again.

Many callers tell C Span that "C Span is the best" and the media outlet that is most fair.

But on issues involving Iran (and Palestine), C Span demonstrates a marked bias.

This petition calls upon C Span to broaden its field of guests/experts who speak on matters pertaining to Iran, and also to educate themselves on the facts and the law of the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty.
Some C Span moderators betray a marked anti-Iran bias that appears to be based on ignorance and/or distorted information. It is important that they base their information about Iran on facts, not propaganda.

Yes, I AM personally affected by the bias against Iran displayed on C Span: my children's future depends on a stable and peaceful world. Demonizing another nation with the INTENT to destabilize it is not the way to bring that about.
