Petition Statement
The Undersigned Call on all Occupy Movements around the United States to use the 99 Pledge created by Occupy Santa Fe, New Mexico. They are called upon to open The99Pledge.com, view the Video and use the 99 Pledge tools to exert pressure on candidates and elected officials to "Commit, when next taking office to work to prohibit corporations from expending money to influence any election or legislation" and to "limit the contribution by individuals to give similar access to the electoral process to all Americans"
Petition Background
The Occupy Santa Fe General Assembly approved the 99 Pledge as a tool to identify which candidates and elected officials are beholden to the 1% and which law makers represent working Americans. The 99 Pledge was instrumental in gaining approval by the New Mexico legislature of a Memorial calling for the reversal of Citizens United. The 99 Pledge has been successful at bringing the issue of campaign corruption to the public. The 99 Pledge proved to be a powerful tool in New Mexico when activists confronted law makers with the 99 Pledge in one hand and the truth in the other.
