Citizen's Petition - RE: Chatham, South Beach & Monomoy
I support the following:
1. The Resolution, as passed in the Chatham MA, Special Town Meeting on May 12th 2014, on the Monomoy National Wildlife Refuge Draft Comprehensive Conservation Plan and Environmental Impact Statement, STATING that: NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the RESIDENTS and VISITORS of Chatham, in an effort to preserve the historic and traditional activities of shellfishing, finfishing, and recreation on South Beach and on or in the submerged lands and open water areas of the Monomoy Refuge, OPPOSE the FEDERAL ANNEXATION of approximately 717 ACRES of SOUTH BEACH and EXPANSION of U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service oversight to submerged lands and open water areas, and activities taking place in those areas within the refuge boundary. Or take any action in relation thereto.
2. A six month Extension in order to intelligently review the U.S. Fish & Wildlife's Wildlife Refuge Draft Comprehensive Conservation Plan and Environmental Impact Statement.
Why is this important?
To preserve the historic (centuries old), traditional, and cultural activities of shellfishing, finfishing, and recreation on South Beach and on or in the submerged lands and open water areas of the Monomoy Refuge
