We demand the City of Oakland proclaim August 17, Universal African flag Day and fly the Black Arts Movement Business District flag along the 14th Street corridor.
Why is this important?
The City of Oakland has delayed putting up the BAMBD flag even after months of urging. Meanwhile the North American African community needs signs and symbols of inspiration and cultural dignity, especially in light of police violence that suggests Black Lives don't matter!
