"Declassify King Assassination"

Information pertinent to the assassination of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. are classified and hence unavailable to the public until their scheduled release date of 2027. A proposed Records Collection Act, similar to a 1992 law concerning the Kennedy assassination, would require their immediate release.

Why is this important?

I see no reason why this information should be kept from the public, especially given MLK's historical importance and the relevance of his work in relation to ongoing racial strife in the country and the world.
