Defeat the House GOP's retaliatory politics

The House of Representatives just revived an extreme measure to slash the salaries of federal employees they don't like to just $1 per year.

The implications of this ability are vast -- and horrifying. A radical politician can effectively fire someone who works on a program they don't personally agree with -- like, say, climate science, ethics investigations, or environmental standards.

This rule could inject electoral politics into everything the government does. The president could even use this rule to encourage his allies to purge the federal workforce of non-loyalists.
