Empower Working Families

Having guaranteed paid sick days ensures that everyone has a fair shot at getting ahead and that no one gets left behind due to an unexpected illness.

Why is this important?

More than 1.5 million Michigan workers — about 46% of the state’s private sector workforce — can't take a paid sick day when they're ill. As a result, they go to work while sick or send their sick children to school because they can’t take the day off to care for them. It's wrong to force working families to choose between a day's pay and their health. This commonsense solution is long overdue.
