Fair Gas Tax
A fair gas tax will allowing millions of Americans to commute to work with affordable fuel while providing additional revenues for future and current infrastructure projects. Since the tax is proportional, the higher income and greater consumers of fuels will be paying a progressively higher rate as the consumption increases. This will encourage conservation will still providing the freedom of choice for each individual consumer.
Why is this important?
While millions of Americans struggle to fill their tanks to commute to work or search for a jobs, hundreds of thousands of other burn countless gallons of gas and diesel in their weekend toys. This fair gas tax establishes an exempt amount for every license holder to cover the basic need to commute an average of 12,000 miles per year. After this base exemption, the amount purchased is tracked on your license at every fuel stop either for private aviation, yachts and watercraft or ATV and snowmobile usage. The exact amounts are subject to change, but the very higher users will be paying something like perhaps $6-8 dollars per gallon when they go beyond perhaps the equilateral individual usage of roughly 100,000 vehicle miles per year. This tax will both encourage the conservation of fossil fuels and provided additional revenues for roads and other infrastructure projects.
