Free Julio "Cheschi" Ramos

Ceschi Ramos has been imprisoned within the Connecticut corrections institutional system under extremely questionable circumstances. Police raided his family's house, denied countless requests for attorney, threatened to seize Ceschi's family home and arrest the whole family (including his 98 year old grandfather). Although nothing illegal was found in the house, and no transaction was ever made, after two hours, these threats resulted in a coached confession under extreme duress. Since 2010, Marijuana has been decriminalized in New Haven, and no longer garners jail time. However, the courts still sent Ceshi to jail earlier this month. The imprisonment of Ceschi Ramos-who started and maintained, up to the time of his incarceration, a successful indie music label called Fake Four- is a travesty of justice and an indictment on the 'War on Drugs' Ceschi Ramos Must Be Released NOW! Why is this important?

I am starting this petition because the laws of CT no longer hold marijuana possession as a crime. Yet, Ceschi was still sent away. The whole process of his arrest, to the coached confession, to the way his case was handled is infuriating. This man should not be in prison. That is why I have started this petition.
