Fund the Port Authority of Allegheny County

To be delivered to The Pennsylvania State House, The Pennsylvania State Senate, and Governor Tom Corbett

Petition Statement

Fund the Port Authority of Allegheny County so it is not forced to hike fares and cut service starting in July 2012.
There are currently 5,761 signatures. NEW goal - We need 7,500 signatures!

Petition Background

From the Port Authority of Allegheny County website:

"2012 Proposed Service Reduction Information
Port Authority is facing a $64 million deficit in its operating budget for the coming fiscal year, starting July 1. This deficit stems from a lack of dedicated funding for transportation at the state level."

"Left without adequate state funding, Port Authority will have no choice but to slash service, increase fares and lay off employees in order to balance its budget, which it is legally obligated to do."

Even though Governor Corbett has stated that he will release a funding plan in February, he has not committed to the funding necessary to maintain the level of service we have today.

Please sign this petition to let Governor Corbett and PA state legislators know that you believe the Port Authority of Allegheny County provides a critical service to our community.
