Members of Congress have a responsibility to govern in the best interests of their constituents, not spin up crises that risk the well-being of our nation. Any GOP member who blocks funding for the Department of Homeland Security by refusing to pass a clean spending bill should forgo their own salary until the standoff is resolved.
Why is this important?
There are some policies carried out by DHS that MoveOn members strongly disagree with. But shutting it down over one of the Obama administration's progressive reforms would be crazy and damaging.
