Why is this important?
New Jersey's own Rep. Chris Smith is at it again. A committee in Congress is going to debate his anti-choice bill that could force sexual-assault survivors who choose abortion to prove to the IRS that the assault occurred.
We don’t want New Jersey’s fingerprints on this kind of anti-woman policy! If it passes, women and families across the country will have elected officials from the Garden State to blame.
Rep. Smith only represents New Jersey’s 4th congressional district, but Chris Christie, as governor, represents the whole state. That’s why we're calling on Gov. Christie to denounce Rep. Smith’s rape audit bill and say it doesn’t represent the values of New Jersey.
