Keep Alaska's Records in Alaska

Stop the proposed closure of the National Archives and Records Administration's Anchorage archive.

NARA has proposed to close the Anchorage facility and to ship all of Alaska's federal records to Seattle. These records are essential for transparency, good governance, and the cultural identity of Alaska.

Why is this important?

NARA's Anchorage facility holds the most important records in the state. These include Fish and Wildlife Service records, military records, court records, maritime logs, and the records for the federal agencies that impact all Alaskans. These records are essential to our history, our identity, and for the empowerment of Alaska communities. They must be accessible to Alaskans in Alaska, not shipped to Seattle.
