Leave DWI Memorial Signs in Place

To change the law so that the DWI Memorial Signs remain in place indefinitely instead of the 2 years as the law is currently written. They help to bring awareness to the problem of drinking & driving & honor those that have lost their lives in drunk driving crashes.

Why is this important?

Texas implemented this program in the latter part of 2007. Application must be made through the TxDOT website, criteria must be met & if the application is approved, the applicant pays $300 for the sign to be made & installed as close to the crash scene without being a hazard to motorists. The law currently states that these signs remain for a maximum time of 2 years. These signs help raise awareness to the epidemic of drinking & driving & have the power to potentially save lives.
