Let Our Voices be Heard

I believe that voting is the fundamental right of all citizens and voting should be made as easy as possible. Unfortunately, limited voting hours, bureaucratic errors and arcane laws around voter registration make it difficult for hundreds of thousands of eligible voters to cast a ballot in every election.

Because I believe that a healthy democracy is one in which more people participate, I strongly encourage you to support Election Day Registration and Early Voting.

Why is this important?

Voting is a fundamental right, and should be as easy as possible. Unfortunately Massachusetts lags behind other states in access to the ballot box. This year, the Massachusetts legislature can take a few simple steps to ensure more people have access to our most fundamental democratic right.

- Early voting allows people to vote when it is convenient for them to do so, ensuring that they don’t have to miss work or caring for their families.

- Demos, a leading good government and voting rights organization has projected that Massachusetts could see an increase in turnout of 4.9%, with even larger increases anticipated among young voters and African Americans if we implemented EDR.

Tell your legislators to remove barriers to exercising our most fundamental democratic right.
