Mayor Rahm Emanuel: STOP CUTTING GOOD JOBS

By iavor ivanov (Contact)

To be delivered to: Rahm Emanuel, Mayor of Chicago

Petition Statement
We urge you to stand up for middle class jobs at a time when President Obama is resisting right-wing billionaires and the politicians they fund, who are moving to destroy those jobs along with workers' collective bargaining rights all over the country. Reverse course at O'Hare Airport. Rebid the cleaning contract because it eliminates 300 middle class jobs (family-sustaining wages, health care benefits, full-time) in favor of low-wage, no-benefit, part-time jobs that will require taxpayer subsidies for food stamps and Medicaid.

Petition Background

More than 300 janitors and window washers at O'Hare International Airport are at risk of losing their jobs just days before Christmas this year because Mayor Emanuel is replacing their employer with United Maintenance, a company with a history of undercutting good jobs. It's the domestic equivalent to outsourcing jobs to China. More: http://bit.ly/S5sk32
