Please spend the $30 million on refurbishing the Hotel Dieu for the benefit of Montreal's homeless and poor.
Why is this important?
The total designated for the above project is $39.5 million. Surely Montreal would be better off with a tangible monument to the creation of Montreal as opposed to the lighting up of a bridge!
Jeanne Mance founded the Hotel Dieu and was a founder of Montreal. How about honouring her and the founding of Montreal, in a lasting way?
The cost to society is 4x as much to have a person on the street, rather than to house them in such a facility.
