The United States Government should implement a mandate on Physical Education and recreational physical activity breaks during school time for primary and secondary levels of education across the nation. This mandate should include standardized guidelines as to the delivery, frequency of delivery, and the duration of Physical Education and physical activity breaks to coincide with the current Public Health recommendation of physical activity.
Why is this important?
The Childhood Obesity issue has loomed largely over the United States over the past few decades. Obese children are very likely to become obese adults who then develop complications associated with overweight and obese status. I was an obese child up until sports helped me to lose weight half way through high school. Though I have lost the weight, the consequences of my former obese status still affect me in daily life. Together we can make a change and help Childhood obesity move out of the way.
