Help stop developers from spoiling our neighborhood! Fix the plan for 1500 San Pablo.

We, the neighbors of the proposed development at 1500 San Pablo Avenue want a project that is compatible with the existing character of the surrounding neighborhood. Unfortunately, the project as proposed is highly incompatible and would adversely affect the surrounding area. The Design Review Committee, Zoning Adjustments Board, and City Council should not permit a structure more than four stories high on the San Pablo Avenue side nor allow for more than 10 physically separate dwelling units not exceeding 28 feet high on the 10th street side. All setbacks, minimum parcel sizes, coverage maximums, floor to area ratios, open space, and parking requirements should be maintained according to code.

Why is this important?

The City of Berkeley is now considering a proposal for a HUGE five story development between San Pablo Ave and 10th St and Cedar St and Jones St. The developer wants to build 170 units and has asked for numerous exemptions to the Berkeley zoning code. As proposed, the project would significantly alter and degrade the character of our neighborhood. Please make your voice heard on this important issue!
