OREGON! Divest from the gun industry!
We demand that the state of Oregon take immediate action to completely divest itself of all securities and financial instruments related in any way to the gun or ammunition industry. The slaughter of innocents must be stopped and reasonable legislation must be passed and enforced. This will happen only if the powerful gun lobby and the NRA can be weakened and overcome.
Why is this important?
After the shootings at Sandy Hook, many hedge funds, private equity firms, and local pension funds divested tens of millions of dollars from the gun industry. Yet a year later, there are still funds and firms profiting from murder.
If Oregon divests, it'll weaken the gun industry's political power and clear the way for common sense gun violence prevention laws. We must weaken the gun lobby and its support of the ongoing carnage of our youth.
