Petition to remove marijuana from the Schedule 1 Controlled Substance list.

Petition to remove marijuana from the Schedule 1 Controlled Substance List—

To whom this may concern, medical marijuana has been on the Schedule 1 Controlled Substance list since 1970. This prohibition has greatly inhibited our access to research material. I believe people are scared of marijuana simply due to the fact that there is not enough medical research on this plant. Once we get marijuana off of the Schedule 1, certain research will increase exponentially. We need further research, specifically on how cannabis effects the brain. Right now, it is too hard to secure permits. We the undersigned ask that marijuana be removed from the Schedule 1 Controlled Substance list for the sake of further research and medical discovery.

Why is this important?

I am a 24 year old male with Cerebral Palsy, and I believe certain properties of the cannabis plant help with spasticity, but I would like to do more research having to do with the brain, specifically the brains of people with CP. Unless we remove marijuana from the Schedule 1 Controlled Substance list, we cannot do this research effectively.
