To: Denver City Council
Petition to the City of Denver to enact rent control.
The citizens of Denver hereby petition the city council to enact strict rent control policies and more renter's rights laws. Just in the past two years some properties have increased their rent by 15-20 percent. The minimum wage in Denver has only increased by 23 cents. This does not equate. The hard-working people of Denver need to be protected from private agencies who continually increase rents to amounts which put people on the streets or force them to relocate.
Why is this important?
The apartment building in which I live just increased my rent by 13 percent after a 6 month lease. My family could barely afford to pay the original amount. This is extortion and something needs to be done to stop these people.
