To: Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources

Petition to WDNR to reject any further permits to GTAC

First: We demand the rejection of any permit applications that would allow bulk
sampling or any mining in the Penokee Range pursuant to the Mission Statement of
the DNR that states:
Our Mission (is)- To protect and enhance our natural resources: our air, land and
water; our wildlife, fish and forests and the ecosystems that sustain all life.
To provide a healthy, sustainable environment and a full range of outdoor
opportunities. To ensure the right of all people to use and enjoy these resources in
their work and leisure. To work with people to understand each others views and to
carry out the public will. And in this partnership consider the future and generations to
follow.
Secondly:
We ask you to embrace the Mission of the department and stand with us in defense of
our water and against this mining corporations attack against the health of our land,
our water, and our local communities.
Join us now and add your voices and the resources that our DNR has to defend our
water, our land, and our communities.
Finally:
We demand that you recognize the insanity of this fragmented approach, which claims
to concern itself with the potential use of explosives during bulk sampling while
marching clearly in the direction of mining which would use massive amounts of
explosives to destroy the Penokee Range and contaminate our air land and water.
Stand up to this assault on sanity and real science. Embrace the Mission of the
department for which we employ you and add your voice to returning the DNR to the
role for which it was created –“ To protect and enhance our natural resources: our air,
land and water; our wildlife, fish and forests and the ecosystems that sustain all life.”
Thank you for your kind attention.
Additional points:
We oppose these mining processes because they will expose mineral and chemical
elements that should not interact with the water. This is a serious threat to all life in
our area – present and future.
This fragmented approach to approving GTAC’s planned mine does not look at the big
picture. Momentum for the project is allowed to accelerate because each step is
separated from the big picture. The corporation’s fragmented steps are building
irreversible momentum. Look at the whole project now.

Why is this important?

I started this petition because I am concerned about the quality of our drinking water, the quality of our air and the overall quality of life in northern Wisconsin. Please sign if you agree.
