President Obama: appoint environmental champion Rep. Raul Grijalva as our next Secretary of the I...

As you develop your cabinet for your second term, now is the time to add more progressive leadership to your team. Therefore, we ask you to please select Rep. Raul Grijalva for the post of our next Secretary of the Interior.

As caretaker of our national parks, public lands, and mineral rights on hundreds of millions of acres, the Secretary of the Interior plays a decisive role in many of the nation's most urgent public health and environmental issues. Through his experience serving as the ranking member and former chair of the House Subcommittee on National Parks, Forests and Public Lands, and as the co-chair of the Progressive Caucus, Rep. Grijalva is exactly who we need as Secretary of the Interior: a thoughtful, practical and effective leader, with a deep understanding of conservation and land management issues.

This is why we're proud to stand with 238 conservation, climate, wildlife, faith, outdoors, Latino and Native American associations to ask you to appoint Congressman Raul Grijalva as the 51st Secretary of the Interior.

Why is this important?

In President Obama's second term, it's important that he add progressive leadership to his cabinet team, especially in positions that are critical to public health and our environment. This is why we're proud to stand with 238 conservation, climate, wildlife, faith, outdoors, Latino and Native American associations to ask the president to appoint Congressman Raul Grijalva as the 51st Secretary of the Interior.
