Prevent Fracking in White Pine County, Nevada

Victory! The creator of this petition declared the campaign a success. You can still sign the petition to show support.

White Pine County, Nevada, is the most remote area in the lower 48 states. Here, hunting, fishing, hiking, and clean air and water are what we are very proud of. Nevada is over 80% public lands and White Pine County is made up of over 90% public lands. The BLM manages most of our public lands and has good systems in place for the leasing of these lands. However, at this time in our nation and in the state of Nevada, there are no consistent guidelines in place for fracking. The process is vaguely defined, and there is little to no information on the chemicals used. This is a perfect time for a moratorium on the leasing of public lands until more information is given to the public and time provided for discussion. Please allow us the privilege of being informed stewards of our public lands. Grant no more leases and place a moratorium on this practice until fracking in Nevada has some agreeable regulations in place.

Why is this important?

White Pine County Nevada is a place to live and to visit if you love mountain glacier fed lakes, hunting, fishing and good old Nevada hospitality. We don't want to lose that.
