Require labeling of all GMO/biotech foods

Massachusetts should require the mandatory labeling of genetically engineered (GMO) foods. We have a right to know about what is in the food we eat and feed to our families.

Genetically engineered foods are required to be labeled in the 15 European Union nations, Russia, Japan, China, Australia, New Zealand, and many other countries. 93 percent of the American public wants mandatory labeling of genetically engineered foods. Massachusetts can help pioneer change here in the U.S.

Why is this important?

Consumers deserve to know if our food contains potentially harmful genetically modified organisms (GMOs). Thirty countries have placed restrictions on GMOs, but the U.S. doesn't even require a labeling system, much less regulate them, due to a powerful, wealthy biotech lobby.
