SANCTUARY FOR THE AT-RISK CHILDREN OF LATIN AMERICA

Victory! The creator of this petition declared the campaign a success. You can still sign the petition to show support.

The controversy over the humanitarian crisis that has developed on our southern border has surfaced in Georgetown, Texas; it is reflective of what is happening in other places around the country. Those who sign this petition are expressing their chagrin over the appalling attitude on the part of those who would treat these refugee children with disdain and contempt in this nation of immigrants.

We, the undersigned, believe that at-risk children, regardless of race or national origin, deserve sanctuary within our nation.

Currently children from warlord- and drug lord-torn lands are making the dangerous and arduous journey to our nation, and certain types of citizens and politicians are misusing this crisis as political fodder. Using the most venial and racist language, they are projecting their stereotypes and prejudices to obscure the humanitarian crisis for which we would be privileged to offer aid.

The people and community of Georgetown wish to extend our full support and kindness to any and all at-risk children and fully support their aid within our community. We also want to extend our sympathy and support to all other communities who find themselves assaulted by a vocal conservative minority regarding at-risk and refugee children.

We are also vehemently opposed to the xenophobic attitudes of certain organizations and citizens and the rabid misuse of these at-risk children as political pawns in our nation's current political debate.

Why is this important?

We are also vehemently opposed to the xenophobic attitudes of certain organizations and citizens and the rabid misuse of these at-risk children as political pawns in our nation's current political debate.
