We the citizens of California support SB 192, sponsored by California Senator Carol Liu, which extends the helmet requirement to adults and requires all riders to wear reflective clothing when cycling at night.
Why is this important?
A Mandatory Helmet Law will save lives!
State Senator Carol Liu introduced a bill (SB 192) that will require everybody to wear helmets when they ride a bicycle.
This law will help protect more people and make sure all riders benefit from the head protection that a helmet provides.
Data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the California Office of Traffic Safety, recommends helmets and reflective gear for all bicyclists.
A recent state study said that two-thirds of bicyclist deaths on state and local roadways are the result of traumatic brain injury.
