Schain Mold and Engineering: Pay your workers a living wage!

An article appeared in the Detroit Free Press on Feb 1, 2015 that tells the story of James Robertson, a man who walks 21 miles each day and a commute that takes 4 hours each way just to get to work.

Robertson has a perfect work attendance record, yet instead of making his life easier, his employers celebrate his resilience, yet still pay him just over $10 an hour, an amount that is not enough to afford a vehicle or easier modes of transportation.

Schain Mold and Engineering should be ashamed of themselves and commit to paying their workers a living wage, instead of celebrating a man who commutes for 8 hours each day, and gets only 2 hours of sleep a night in order to make it to work.

Why is this important?

In the February 1, 2015 article that highlights the long and difficult commute to work that one of your employees takes each day, you celebrate his resilience and commitment to the job.

You should be ashamed of yourselves for supposedly supporting this man, yet refusing to pay him a living wage that would allow him to commute to work easier and not commute for 8 hours a day.

Commit to paying your workers a living wage now so that no employee has to spend 1/3 of their day commuting to work.
