I am writing to request that you drop your sponsorship of Senate Bill 2566, allowing individuals, businesses and religious organizations to discriminate/deny services, facilities, goods or privileges to gay and lesbian citizens of our state.
Why is this important?
This bill is a dangerous step toward increased prejudice and potential violence against a small percentage of our citizens. As sponsor, you would be as responsible as the aggressor in a violent confrontation because you are encouraging discrimination in our state. Tennessee does not need more discrimination; we need less!
I hope you will consider the potential consequences of such an action and in good conscience, drop your support of Bill 2566.
