Stop unfair fare hikes on seniors, disabled

Rhode Island's most vulnerable -- low-income seniors and disabled people -- have been made the targets of a special bus fare hike. This fare increase is unaffordable to many disabled people and seniors who are living on a limited income, and state elected officials must reverse it.

Why is this important?

For many years RIPTA has provided free travel to those disabled people and seniors who are already living on a limited income. Rhode Island's most vulnerable seniors and disabled can't afford to pay what RIPTA is now charging, and many have said they'll be stuck at home unable to go out much. Bills have been introduced in the RI General Assembly to undo this fare hike -- H5173, S31 and S115. These bills need to be passed.
