The Anti-Corporate Personhood Petition

By Willie Burnley Jr (Contact)

To be delivered to: The California State House, The California State Senate, Governor Jerry Brown, The United States House of Representatives, and The United States Senate

Petition Statement
We believe that the Citizens United v. Federal Election Committee ruling of 2010 should be overturned by the Supreme Court and that the limits upon corporations should return to what they were prior to this decision. We believe that corporations, as non-living entities, are not persons and should not have the right of personhood. We believe that the floodgates that have opened, as a result of this decision, should be closed and that corporate power should be returned to what it was before in order to give the average citizen a greater relative voice in the electoral process.

Petition Background

The Citizens United ruling has given corporations far more power by helping to remove certain limits to how much they can spend in political contributions to PACs. The extent to which it has grown gives corporations, with interests that could be detrimental to the voting public, more say in what is said during an election than people actually do.
