People of Earth- Stand Up and Demand Your 10 Basic, Universal, Economic and Environmental Rights!
Humanity is still capable of restructuring our systems, so that we can alleviate poverty while ensuring that the earth can support the life that is here. We must act now.
Why is this important?
According to the scientific community, we do not have much time left to sort out our environmental practices, so that the earth can support the life that is currently here. However, if we act NOW, we can prevent the extinction of approximately 200 species a day, tens of thousands of human deaths everyday from poverty, lift people out of crippling poverty in richer countries, as well as in 'developing nations', and ensure that our earth can support the life that is on it.
We, as humanity on this earth, claim these ten basic, universal birthrights for everyone who so chooses:
The right to:
*sustainable, nutritious food
*sustainable clean water
*sanitation
*sustainable shelter
*sustainable clothing
*healthcare
*education
*access to sustainable transportation
*sustainable energy
*an earth that can support the life on it- meaning, in addition to sustainable energy, that no more unnecessary consumer goods are produced that are not environmentally sustainable- recyclable, etc.
That's 10 basic universal rights. If humanity could come together and agree upon those rights, and then agree on effective action that we can take in order to ensure those rights (ideally starting with a peaceful, international day of public protest), it would be revolutionary. It would change our world for the better so incredibly drastically- we would have economic rights, which would probably be delivered through a universal basic income (that's how we would provide for the basic rights that I outlined), and we would have a healthy earth with sane environmental laws.
