Women’s Pledge of Unity

We Belong Together.

We pledge to stand up for human rights, dignity and our democracy. We will not be silent as so many of us — women, children, people of color, immigrants and refugees, Muslims, LGBTQ communities and people with disabilities — are targeted by the government. We will carry forward the legacy of organizing built by our mothers and grandmothers before us for our children and future generations. We will not be silent.

We pledge to defend immigrant and refugee children and families from hate.

We pledge to create and defend sanctuary cities, schools, churches, and homes.

We pledge to protect DACA, which allows nearly 1 million DREAMers to live, work, and go to school in the United States, call for an end to family detention centers and deportation policies, and resist efforts to further militarize border communities.

We pledge to stand up to anti-Muslim hate and fear mongering.

We pledge to defend immigrant workers, domestic workers and their right to dignity and respect on the job.

We pledge to celebrate our diversity, unite across difference and come together to demonstrate courageous love, and sisterhood.

Why is this important?

Pledge to protect immigrant families!

The Women’s March is a beautiful reminder of the power we wield when we come together. And it is just the beginning of a growing national opposition to President Trump’s politics of hate.

President Trump has already taken action on his anti-immigrant platform. With recent executive orders, he laid out plans to build a border wall, punish local governments that stand with immigrants, and increase detentions and deportations of families and children. He has threatened to target Muslim communities and dismantle life-saving refugee programs. He has promised to end important programs like DACA — which allows nearly 1 million DREAMers to live, work, and go to school in the United States.

It’s up to us to transform the momentum of resistance into a movement with the power to fight these dangerous policies. Together we can protect our families, our communities, and our democracy.

Eleven year old Leah joined hundreds of immigrant leaders at the Women’s March in Washington, DC.

Leah’s mother is undocumented, so she traveled from Miami, Florida “to tell the new president that girls are STRONG and that we will defend our immigrant mothers and community from hate. WE ARE HERE TO STAY!”

“As a kid I live with the fear of being separated from my mother everyday. It’s not fair. It breaks my heart. However, as part of the We Belong Together campaign I know my family is not alone. We are a community of women and kids who love each other.”

In February, Leah will be returning to DC with a delegation of children from Florida to deliver the Pledge and show that immigrant families like hers are here to stay.
