Fund Amtrak & Keep us Safe!
By fully funding Amtrak, the federal government can ensure that Amtrak has the most up-to-date safety technology -- and save lives.
Why is this important?
On Tuesday, May 12th, an Amtrak train derailed outside of Philadelphia and 7 people were killed -- and it could have been prevented.
Modern technological advances, like Positive Train Control (PTC) which automatically regulates train speed, can keep trains from running off the tracks. But because of budget cuts, Amtrak can't afford to upgrade their systems with PTC. But just hours after this deadly crash, House Republicans voted to gut Amtrak of even more money.
If Congress fully funds Amtrak with the resources it needs to upgrade their safety measures, tragedies like these won't happen again. Tell Congress to save lives and fully fund our infrastructure.
