Albany: Stop making our deceased hostages of the commercial funeral industry

Return the right of New Yorkers to care for their own deceased loved ones privately if they choose not to hire a commercial funeral home. Amend the law to break the legal monopoly New York undertakers have on our families and funerals.

Why is this important?

Taking control of one of the most important rites of passage in any family is a fundamental right that must be preserved. But, New York state gives the commercial funeral industry a legal monopoly on citizen deaths. Families who want to care for their dead privately as our great grandparents did are forced to hire a funeral home whether they want to or not, and whether they can afford to or not.
