Dear Attorney General Brian Frosh,
Due to the recent events surrounding the firing of the FBI Director overseeing the investigation into the collusion of Trump campaign and Russia’s efforts to influence our last election, the citizens of Maryland are concerned about the independence of the FBI counter intelligence investigation and the integrity of the US Department of Justice.
Maryland has thousands of residents who work for government agencies or contractors or who have worked on recent political campaigns -- some of whom may have information or evidence related to the ongoing federal probes of Russian interference in the U.S. election.
We call for the office of the Maryland Attorney General to provide a secure mechanism for our fellow citizens in the intelligence community to report:
• Evidence of federal crimes or wrongdoing related to investigations of Russian interference or Trump campaign collusion
• Any attempts of coercion, intimidation, or other means of impeding an independent investigation.
• Any attempts of destroying evidence related to investigations of Russian interference or Trump campaign collusion
We ask for protections for our citizens from retaliation for coming forward with such evidence.
We also ask that the Attorney General pledge to investigate any evidence of obstruction of justice or other federal crimes committed on Maryland soil related to of Russian interference or Trump campaign collusion.
