Boycott Walmart in Pawleys Island

We, the citizens of Pawleys Island, S.C., reject the notion of building a Walmart in our community. With two Walmarts within 20 minutes' driving time, there is no reason or need for it, and we pledge that we will not patronize it.

Why is this important?

Since we already have two other Walmarts nearby, another big box store is not needed in Pawleys Island, SC. A 2005 Lowe's effort to locate in Pawleys Island was rejected. As we've stated previously, big box stores are incompatible with many aspects of our small community. We treasure our small businesses, many of which would be adversely affected. Traffic could increase dramatically, and big box stores offer little or nothing that is not already available to us.
