City Council: Don't ban Fresno's medical cannabis patients - again

Mayor Brand and Council Member Bredefeld want to ban all cannabis businesses in Fresno, including those serving medical cannabis patients. The "double ban" will harm thousands of patients protected by Propositions 215 and 64, contribute to crime and nuisance grow sites, and cost the city millions of dollars in lost jobs and tax revenues.

I respectfully ask the Fresno City Council to reject the mayor's plan as being damaging to patients and veterans. Please establish a citizens advisory committee to create a better plan that will regulate and tax cannabis, create new jobs and industry, protect patients and veterans who use cannabis for medical purposes, and improve public safety.

Thank you.

Why is this important?

Medical cannabis patients in Fresno have suffered for years because the city and county both prohibit the cultivation and retail sales of medical cannabis. Now the city is proposing to ban "recreational" sales without even bothering to consider Proposition 215 patients or tough new state laws. FRESNO DESERVES BETTER.
