Colorado: Tell Senator Gardner to reject Sam Clovis as the USDA's top scientist
I strongly urge you to oppose the nomination of Sam Clovis – a racist and a climate change denier with no background in food or agriculture -- as the Undersecretary for Research, Education and Economics (REE) at the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA).
Why is this important?
Sam Clovis is blatantly unqualified for the top scientist job at the USDA. He’s a political operative and former talk radio host, not a scientist.
Clovis has said climate science is “junk science.” He also has a history of racist rants, including calling progressives “race traders and race traitors." And he’s vocally against fair wages for working people. It has also been revealed that Clovis is vehemently against civil rights protections for the LGBT community.
This is someone who shouldn’t be in any sort of leadership position -- let alone running key federal programs to protect our food system.
Tell Senator Gardner to reject Clovis to lead the USDA's science program!
