Establish Foster Partnerships between Animal Control and Licensed Rescues

As animal welfare advocates, we request that our local leadership look for an opportunity to establish a relationship and protocols with licensed animal rescues to provide foster care for pets in need for the mandated hold periods to alleviate overcrowding and reduce health risks of impounded animals.

Why is this important?

Georgia laws that went into effect last year prevent rescues from having any involvement with stray pets. This means that animals will have to wait on animal control officers to impound them, which is not always the same day. This is detrimental in the event an animal needs medical care or safety from elements or a situation.
