Fix the Supreme Court

To be delivered to President Donald Trump, The United States House of Representatives, and The United States Senate

Petition Statement

Corporations are not people. Their highest motive is not profit. Money is not speech. The Supreme Court must be held to the same ethical principles as are the lower courts, more judges would make for better decisions, and the people, not the Court, should have the final say.

Petition Background

The Supreme Court has enabled a coup: Our government is responsive to oligarchs, not the people.

If Citizens United or decisions to allow universal surveillance are allowed to stand, there will be no possibility of repairing our broken system.

James McGregor Burns wrote: "John Marshall was wrong: it is emphatically the province and duty of the American people, not of the nine justices of the United States Supreme Court, to say what the Constitution is. A national reappraisal of the all-powerful court chosen by judicial roulette is crucial if American democracy is to meet the rising challenges of the twenty-first century." (From the last page of Burns' Packing the Court.)
