Why is this important?
Ravi Ragbir is an immigrant, a New Yorker, and an activist—who has been ordered to report for deportation on Saturday, February 10.
This is only one of many examples of ICE targeting immigrant activists and leaders in a concerted effort to disrupt the movement for immigrant rights and respect and to intimidate other immigrants from speaking up.
And, sadly, Ravi's is only one of countless stories of families and communities being torn apart by the Trump deportation machine.
Ravi has contributed to his community in New York, is a civic leader, and has the support of elected officials and his own community. He has complied with all of his check-ins and the rules governing his status in the United States. He deserves to continue to be an active participant in his community in New York.
ICE should cancel his deportation proceedings immediately—and similarly cease its aggressive actions against the countless immigrants whose homes, families, jobs, communities, employees, students, and hearts are here in American.
