Governor Murphy, Overturn This Law Limiting Physician Compensation from Pharmaceutical Companies

The intention of this rule, initiated by Attorney General Chris Porrino is to regulate financial relationships between prescribers and manufacturers to "prohibit doctors from forming unsavory financial relationships with drug companies that manufacture highly addictive opioids". This will globally affect all prescribers irrespective of any relationship with companies that manufacture opioids, including attending lectures on other topics. Pharmaceutical company sponsored lectures remain an important way for health care providers to receive education about multiple topics; this law needs to be repealed.

Why is this important?

This law will diminish the ability for health care providers to receive education about various topics, and WILL NOT be effective to limit the opiate epidemic in NJ or any other state. Limiting access to and education by Key Opinion Leaders on various topics will be associated with a diminished ability to effectively deliver healthcare to the citizens of NJ.
