Make the Illinois Prairie Path Bicycle-Friendly

The Illinois Prairie Path should be improved where it intersects First Avenue and Mannheim Road. Both multi-lane streets have heavy traffic and should have traffic lights that bike-riders could activate, or pedestrian/bicycle overpasses. At First Avenue, there is already a traffic light, but it can be activated only by cars. A simple button there would make a huge difference.

Why is this important?

Riders of the Illinois Prairie Path confront a decidedly Bicycle-hostile start at First Avenue, and shortly thereafter at Mannheim Road. Both multi-lane streets should have traffic lights that bike-riders could activate, or pedestrian/bicycle overpasses. Instead we face a death-defying gauntlet of traffic.
